SOUTHERN SUPER SPAR
Night Time CIPP Pipeline Rehabilitation Project

ORSCO (Pty) Ltd was appointed to rehabilitate a damaged section of sewer pipeline at Southern Super Spar using Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) technology. Due to the high volume of wastewater flowing through the line during trading hours, the project was scheduled and completed during the night to minimise disruption to the store’s operations.

THE CHALLENGE
The existing DN110 sewer pipeline had experienced deterioration that required rehabilitation. Given the critical nature of the line and the constant usage associated with a busy retail environment, traditional excavation and pipe replacement would have caused significant operational disruption.

A trenchless rehabilitation solution was therefore selected to restore the integrity of the pipeline while keeping the facility fully operational.

INSPECTION AND PREPARATION
Prior to rehabilitation, the ORSCO team conducted a comprehensive CCTV pipeline inspection to assess the condition of the pipeline and accurately identify the affected section.

Following the inspection, the pipeline underwent thorough high-pressure jetting to remove debris, grease build-up, and any obstructions that could compromise the lining installation process.

This preparation ensured that the host pipe was clean and ready for rehabilitation.

THE SOLUTION
Using advanced CIPP technology, ORSCO successfully rehabilitated 27 metres of DN110 sewer pipeline

The liner was installed and cured within the existing host pipe, creating a seamless, jointless pipe within a pipe, designed to provide decades of reliable service.

THE RESULTS
The project was completed successfully during a night shift, allowing Southern Super Spar to continue normal business operations without interruption.
